OOPS, I DID IT AGAIN!

Constantly second-guessing herself, Hiroko Yamamura, is bound for the legendary ranks of techno leviathans, Carl Cox and Jeff Mills. Unwittingly witty, her tendency to apologise to everyone before a set almost seems like a veiled attempt at tricking us into yielding to her unapologetic selection. Rugged, controlled and effective, verbal 'woahs' bespatter the experience.

Revisiting a shelved interest, the camera-shy Chicago native's hiatus was in part due to disappointment. Yamamura has since taken the time to do the inner work and recognise that consistency to purpose is key and that the world owes her nothing. In a scene where many female DJs flaunt their sex appeal, witnessing a woman bank on her ability and maturity without an inflated rack or rump will age like fine wine.

Extremely intelligent and observant, Yamamura is the prime example of a DJ who knows what she is doing and in the same breath suprised at how well-recieved she is, the venues she spins in and the world-reknowned DJs she shares the decks with. This is what she had to say when panm360 asked her about her approach to music:

"One of the key factors of being a DJ is you have to love music, and you have to be obsessed with it. It’s got to be almost problematic, like you’ve spent your lunch money on this record you really want."

Today, house heads will probably spend their last dollar to catch her live. In a troubled world, it is a problem most would rather have. Follow her on her socials to keep up with her schedule.
